Lutheran Youth Organization Report PDF Print E-mail

The officers of the Lutheran Youth Organization, Meghan Wilcox, Tela-Marie Prettyman, and Caitlin Donovan, along with their advisor, Pastor Laurie Carson-Nelson, met at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Utica on August 28, 2010.  Our purpose was to outline our plan for the year, and to come up with our goals for this year.  We have decided to make this year a building year for the LYO.  We are currently in the process of reviving the board and reaching out to all areas of the synod.  We plan on visiting many churches to get the information about the LYO to as many churches as possible.  We plan on asking attendees of CONVO who have indicated that they would like to participate in the LYO to accompany us on many of these trips.

One event that defines the Lutheran Youth Organization is CONVO.  For many youth this is the event that introduces them to the LYO.  This year we plan on getting the word out in different ways, but we still plan on having CONVO as a way for youth to learn about the workings of the synod and to grow together as a body of Christ.  Traveling to churches will also help to raise awareness about CONVO, so we hope to have increased attendance at this year’s CONVO.

We have also set up a Facebook page for the LYO.  Information will be posted there as well as on the website.  Youth will be able to be friends of the LYO, and will be able to see regular updates about the organization.  This will help us to raise interest and get more people involved, so that we may do bigger projects in the future.

We plan to meet once a month, with our October meeting being at CSLYOPS.  Our November meeting will be open to all youth so that we can hear their input.
